Types of deficiency


1. Qi deficiency

o Anti inflammatory, eg ginseng, licorice, cordyceps

2g wolfberry (gouqizi)
5g foetid cassia seeds (juemingzi)
2g chrysanthemum (juhua)


Method
- Place all ingredients in a big mug or bowl
- Pour in 250ml of hot water. Steep for 15mins.
- Drink tea fresh or within the day to get the most out of the medicinal properties.
If storage is necessary, place in the refrigerator after cooling. Heat up the tea before consumption.



Sichuan lovage Root Tea with Chinese Angelica

Sichuan lovage root promotes blood circulation and keeps pain at bay.
(serves two)


5g Sichuan lovage root (chuanxiong)
10g Chinese angelica (danggui)


Method
- Place the herbs in a filter bag. Immerse it in 800ml of boiling water for 20mins.
- Let the tea cool before serving.



Lean Meat Soup with Radix Notoginseng
Notoginseng root helps boost blood circulation and lower cholesterol and triglycerides.
(serves two)
15g sliced Radix notoginseng root (sanqi)
20g red dates or honey dates
15g dried longan
300g lean pork or chicken
Salt to taste


Method
- Remove the seeds in the red dates
- Wash the dried ingredients.
- Blanch the lean meat in boiling water for two to three mins.
- Place the lean meat, notoginseng root, dates and longan in a pot.
- Pour in water to about 3cm above the level of the ingredients.
- Bring water to a boil, then turn to low heat and cook for 45mins.
- Add salt to taste.
